Came from EPIC and switched to Valant when started a private practice. Finds it to be very similiar. Loves that it is a true all in one. Telehealth, billing, all done in house. Great patient experience, patients love the billing process and invoicing tools. Great outcome measure library- easy to send through the portal, have them fill out, and auto scores and pulls into the notes. Ease of use to send measures or content through portal and pulls into documentation- streamlines that documentation for process. Younger demographic loves the mobile patient portal app- ease of use- filling out paperwork and attending telehealth sessions through there. > > **Desvantagens**: Valant does make a lot of great updates and changes- and they are useful. Sometimes it moves too quick too fast. We do get around to learning about those updates- but if we miss some new features- we can get left behind. > > We have been with Valant for many years now- it is an excellent system and has supported our full practice for over a decade. The e-prescribe tool is really effective with Dr. First- makes controlled substances easy to do. It's really written for psychiatry, made by a psychiatrists and we can see that effort when using the EHR. The customer support is responsive. It is a horrible software that rarely works correctly. They also like to lock users into a contract so that they cannot cancel, and they also like to hold patient health information/ PHI hostage so that it cannot be downloaded and moved to an EHR that actually works. Valant promises all kinds of things including telehealth, simple note taking, treatment planning, etc. However, in actuality, the platform looks like it was built in 1985, and never updated. Notes are not templated in a way that makes sense. If you need help, don’t bother calling their helpdesk- they are useless. Please save your time, money, and headache and find a software solution that actually works. > > **Desvantagens**: There is no assistance in data transfer to Valant, despite the outrageous price tag. They use intimidation and gross business tactics to try to lock you into a contract so that you are stuck paying for their awful service. For my practice of 80, this software simply does not have the capacity to work and run effectively for a practice this size. Perhaps it would work in solo practice, but certainly not for a group of any kind. The templates are awful and archaic, telehealth rarely works, new patient portal set up is an administrative nightmare (clients can request an appointment, but aren’t able to create a portal. What sense does that make), and clients are rarely able to pay their invoices. Valant sucks up cash and spits out so many problems. I would never recommend this software to anyone. > > Overall, I had a horrible experience with Valant. I don’t think it could have gone any worse. Within 90 days of launch, I was aggressively looking for a new option. This means that my providers and clients had to change platforms again, after just changing over to Valant. The software is just so terrible and does not work the way it should. I don’t trust this company or anything they say. Please, stay away. ----- ### "Valant EHR to Streamline Counseling Paperwork and Billing" — 5.0/5 > **Kristen** | *24 de junho de 2025* | Clínica de saúde mental | Taxa de recomendação: 10.0/10 > > **Vantagens**: Valant EMR streamlines billing and record keeping very well and provides a Hippa compliant avenue through which all client and therapist communications regarding treatment, billing and scheduling can occur through this confidential portal. > > **Desvantagens**: Updates create some issues occassionally so there is a need to submit tickets to Valant when this happens and once you enter a billing code and amount charged for a client it never changes so the billing professional has to manually edit this amount if billing amount changes for a billing code even if you change amount in the baseline info. This is a quick and easy fix however and the fact that all claims can be submitted at the click of a button simultaneously for outweighs this minor inconvenience. > > Love it\! It made going from paper charting and billing to EHR very easy with the instructional videos and verbal phone assistance offered initially, and it is irreplaceable to have all of the billing sent out with the press of a button to one clearinghouse, and then have it return via ERA's from one clearinghouse for review then application into Valant's EMR. Then all therapists and staff permitted can view and utilize this information.
